Hoping to aid the parents of a two-year-old who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy, the St. Lawrence Society in Cos Cob will host a benefit dinner Saturday night.
The event is being hosted by Cos Cob residents Mark and Denise Longo, whose niece, Gianna Rae Amereno, was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
The family of the child, who goes by the name Gigi, is seeking to raise money to help pay for the staggering medical costs of dealing with the motor neuron disease. The condition affects the voluntary muscles used for crawling, walking, head and neck control and swallowing.
